What this platform teaches (and what it does not)
Vbg B.V. teaches calligraphy as a set of controllable variables: pressure, speed, nib angle, ink viscosity, and paper absorbency. Instead of “copy this page and hope it improves,” sessions are built around diagnosis. You practice a specific stroke family (entry strokes, shaded downstrokes, compound curves), then run a short check to identify the cause of a defect: railroading, feathering, ink pooling, or inconsistent x-height rhythm.
The exercises are educational and craft-focused. We do not provide consulting, regulated services, or professional advice. We do not issue certifications that guarantee jobs, results, or placement. You will not see inflated promises; you will see careful terminology, clear measurement points, and repeatable routines you can keep using after the module ends.
Image suggestion: close-up sequence of the same downstroke repeated three times with a single variable changed (paper swapped, ink diluted, then nib adjusted), photographed on a neutral tabletop.
