These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website and learning materials operated by Vbg B.V. (“Vbg B.V.”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By visiting our site, using our learning pages, or submitting a message through our forms, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

1) Acceptance, eligibility, and minors

2) Educational purpose and important disclaimers

Vbg B.V. is an independent educational platform focused on calligraphy practice: stroke diagnostics, spacing control, and ink behavior. The materials are designed for skill practice through exercises and scenarios. They are not a substitute for professional training required by any regulated profession, and they do not create any professional-client relationship.

• Education only: We provide learning content and practice prompts only. We do not provide consulting services.
• No certifications or guarantees: We do not provide certifications intended for hiring decisions, and we do not guarantee outcomes. Craft improvement varies based on practice time, tools, and conditions.
• Safety note: Some practice involves inks, solvents, blades, or pointed tools. Use materials responsibly and follow manufacturer instructions.

We aim for clear, practical guidance. Still, calligraphy outcomes depend on variables such as paper sizing, ink viscosity, humidity, nib tine alignment, pressure ramps, and writing speed. The site does not promise uniform results.

3) Service description and changes

The site contains pages describing practice modules, reference notes, and learning prompts. Some pages may be revised over time as materials and availability change (for example, when a paper batch behaves differently, or an ink formula changes).

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time. We try to avoid breaking changes, but we do not guarantee that a specific module or reference entry will remain available forever.

4) Acceptable use

You agree to use the site in a lawful, respectful way. The site is maintained by a small team; abuse harms availability for everyone.

• Do not attempt to access non-public areas, bypass security measures, or probe the site for vulnerabilities.
• Do not scrape, crawl, or harvest content at scale using automated scripts, bots, or similar tools.
• Do not submit false information through forms, impersonate others, or send spam.

5) Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the website content, module text, reference notes, and the overall structure of exercises are owned by Vbg B.V. or licensed to us. This includes text, design, graphics, and code.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the site for personal, educational use. You may print or save excerpts for your own practice notes.

• You may not republish full modules, reproduce the content as your own course, or redistribute it commercially without written permission.
• You may not remove or obscure copyright or attribution notices.
• You may not mirror the site or create derivative works that compete with the site’s learning materials.

6) User submissions (messages and form content)

When you send us a message (for example, your practice setup, defects observed, and questions), you are responsible for the content you submit. Please do not include sensitive personal information that is not needed to explain your calligraphy practice.

You grant Vbg B.V. permission to use the information you submit to respond to you and to improve our educational materials. If we ever want to quote a message in a public learning example, we will anonymize it and remove identifying details.

7) Third-party services and links

The site may reference third-party tools, papers, inks, nibs, or manufacturers as part of educational explanations. Any third-party websites you visit are governed by their own terms and policies. Vbg B.V. is not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices.

8) Disclaimers of warranties

The website and materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We work to keep the site stable, but outages and maintenance happen.

9) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vbg B.V. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the site.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) €100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law, including liability for intent or gross negligence where applicable.

10) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vbg B.V. from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms.

11) Force majeure

Vbg B.V. will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, pandemics, labor disputes, internet outages, cyberattacks, and failures of hosting, cloud, or telecommunications providers.

12) International use

Vbg B.V. operates from the Netherlands. We do not represent that the site is appropriate or available in every jurisdiction. If you access the site from outside the Netherlands, you are responsible for complying with your local laws.

13) Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.

Unless mandatory consumer protection rules provide otherwise, the courts of the Netherlands will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also have rights to bring claims in your country of residence under applicable consumer laws.

14) Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the site if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or used the site in a way that could harm the site, other users, or our rights.

The provisions that should reasonably survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.

15) Severability

16) Entire agreement

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Vbg B.V. regarding your use of the site and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings on the subject.

Vbg B.V. may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, or sale of assets. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent.

18) No waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

19) Modifications to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and will generally take effect 14 days after posting. If changes are material, we will make a reasonable effort to provide a prominent notice on the site.

20) Electronic communications

You agree that communications and notices we provide electronically satisfy legal requirements for written communications, to the extent permitted under applicable law, including eIDAS where relevant.
